The Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing material flow, inventory control, shipping/ receiving, and warehouse operations to ensure uninterrupted production. This role ensures the timely receipt, storage, and delivery of materials while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and inventory accuracy.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in materials, warehouse, or supply chain operations
  • 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Experience in manufacturing environment required
  • ERP systems (SAP preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous availability of raw materials to support production schedules
  • Coordinate inbound, storage, and line-side delivery of materials
  • Monitor material shortages and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and system integrity (SAP or ERP)
  • Lead cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation processes
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance supply continuity and cost
  • Supervise daily receiving, storage, picking, and shipping activities
  • Ensure proper material handling, labeling, and FIFO compliance
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and 5S standards in all material areas
  • Supervise and develop warehouse/material handlers and team leads
  • Assign daily work, monitor performance, and support problem resolution
  • Drive engagement, safety awareness, and continuous improvement culture
  • Collaborate with production, planning, and logistics teams
  • Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules
  • Support launches, engineering changes, and demand fluctuations
  • Track supplier delivery performance and escalate issues
  • Communicate material changes and supply risks internally
  • Support logistics planning and transportation coordination
  • Lead initiatives to improve material flow, reduce waste, and increase efficiency
  • Analyze KPIs (inventory accuracy, shortages, on-time delivery)
  • Implement process improvements and standard work
  • Promote and enforce safety, environmental, and company policies
  • Ensure compliance with warehouse and material handling standards
