About The Position

As a Materials & Processes and Mechanical Disciplines Engineering Intern at Pratt & Whitney, you will be responsible for engine component evaluation, materials and/or chemical process development, analyses, testing, and other support functions for both commercial and military jet engine applications. Specific tasks may include mechanical testing, structural analysis or structural software tool development, materials analysis, metallurgical or chemical analysis, inspection processes, or coating property analysis. You will document and analyze data/results, prepare reports and presentations, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on experimental findings. By becoming an intern at Pratt & Whitney, you will receive hands-on training to help you build your career in aerospace. The program typically lasts 10-12 weeks and assignments are available in various areas. Engineering Interns at Pratt & Whitney work on challenging, meaningful, and impactful projects across our business. Our intern program seeks to help you develop an understanding of the aerospace industry and learn about our company and its operations.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session.
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate should have an interest in building a technical career in applied materials development and characterization
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in teams as both a leader and a participant
  • Experience with common materials characterization and test methods. This may include but is not limited to mechanical test methods, thermal analysis, spectroscopy and microscopy methods.
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
