About The Position

Callaway Golf Company is seeking a Materials Process Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on component process engineering, specifically analyzing, testing, and qualifying materials such as titanium, steel, and composites for manufacturing. The position emphasizes the development and validation of manufacturing processes for specific components. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Program Management, and Global Suppliers, to ensure seamless development and implementation of manufacturing processes. Key responsibilities include developing test plans and SOPs, analyzing results, and verifying that materials and product meet both design and production requirements. This role is best suited for individuals with a strong background in materials analysis, component process development, and data-driven problem-solving. Success in this position requires exceptional attention to detail, an innovation mindset, organizational skills, and a methodical approach to testing and process validation.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials analysis, manufacturing processes, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and materials testing methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Valid passport required.
  • Expertise in materials characterization and testing methods, including elongation, tensile strength, and other critical metrics.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing processes such as investment casting, molding, forging, laser welding, and composite fabrication.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment, coatings, and metal finishing.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a detail-oriented, data-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in quality tools and methods, including Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, and statistical analysis.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience using testing tools and instrumentation.
  • Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) for reporting and data analysis.
  • Solid knowledge and experience utilizing engineering fundamentals and testing methods.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to collaborate with suppliers in an independent mode to solve technical problems.
  • Ability to lead technical meetings and report project status.
  • Experience with investment casting, forging, welding, metal finishing, coatings, and/or composites required.
  • Good mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach and knowledge of basic tools and instrumentation.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of quality methods and tools. This includes but is not limited to 6 Sigma, FMEA, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Controls, Measure System Analysis.
  • Able to work extended hours in critical situations.

  • Injection and compression molding experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of materials, heat treatment and/or welding preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and qualify materials such as titanium, steel, and composites to support design innovation technology and to confirm materials are meeting manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for advanced materials, including casting, molding, forging, and laser welding.
  • Complete a qualification plan and analyze results of materials characterization testing to meet critical performance metrics.
  • Document test results, lessons learned, and recommendations to ensure robust manufacturing processes and quality outcomes.
  • Function as the technical lead and liaison between design, R&D, and manufacturing supplier teams for process and materials knowledge.
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop new processes and assess capability to manufacture new technologies and designs.
  • Provide input to R&D on material and process options during the design phase, ensuring design for manufacturability and alignment with performance goals.
  • Characterize and control key material and process parameters for supplier manufacturing capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain process control plans to ensure consistent production quality.
  • Audit supplier performance, refine processes, and confirm capabilities to meet quality and production targets.
  • Drive process improvements to achieve design intent and allow for advanced innovation with future technologies.
