About The Position

The Materials Planner coordinates and releases components needed to meet production schedules and customer requirements. The role develops procedures and supports systems to optimize inventory levels, track containers, meet packaging needs, and optimize freight.

The position supports material planning for production demand and customer requirements, including decision-making and management of materials from primarily international suppliers. The materials involved are valued at approximately 25% of sales volume. The planner maintains appropriate inventory levels and inventory integrity in line with department goals, with attention to the effects of excess inventory on floor space and working capital and the risks that shortages pose to transportation costs and production continuity.

The role also ensures material is assigned to designated storage locations using FIFO principles, provides support to internal and external customers—many of whom are overseas—and performs to quality-system standards. The planner supports and drives continuous improvement activities that positively affect company profitability and adheres to safety and housekeeping principles.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• At least three years of Materials or Logistics experience.
• Knowledge of SAP, MRP, and Lean Manufacturing required.

Nice To Haves

• Some college preferred, including two years of formal education or related experience.
• International material planning experience preferred.
