About The Position

The Materials Management Specialist I coordinates, administers, implements and assists in the development of the supply support system which operates efficiently and meets the needs of the patient and the site/organization Materials Management Department. Cleans, prepares, and transports medical equipment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Required.
Three (3) years of relevant experience in warehouse or materials management operations may be considered in lieu of education requirements.
None.
Valid Virginia driver's license with positive driving record may be required at community hospitals.
Excellent communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office focus on Excel spreadsheets including formulas, sorting large data sets and printing.
Familiarity with automated procurement and inventory control systems.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work with others in a team setting.
Ability to meet deadlines within short timeframes, perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time, and work in a continually changing environment.

Responsibilities

Performs replenishment of supplies stocked to ensure sufficient availability.
Accomplishes the timely, accurate, and efficient picking and staging of the requisitions.
Performs the requisitioning, inspecting, receiving, and stocking of inventory items for maintaining the appropriate par levels.
Assembles, repackages, or replenishes kits, components and carts.
Performs regularly scheduled pick-ups and delivery of medical equipment to ensure availability where required.
Operates computers, computerized equipment and peripherals.
Operates materials handling equipment in the performance of job duties.
Assembles, disassembles and labels shelving and storage units.
Monitors supplies for proper labeling, expiration dates and integrity of packaging.
Requisitions, receives and stocks supplies for assigned area.
Meets assigned department and Materials Management budgetary goals and department performance indicators or statistics.
Recommends various cost controls over stock inventories.
Coordinates requisitions, receipts and returns for assigned areas using established policies.
Proficient communication skills to communicate with vendors, physicians, nurses, patients, peers and other healthcare facilities.
Proficient knowledge and utilization of hardware and software.
Participates in product evaluations / changes for assigned areas.
Other duties as assigned.
