About The Position

We’re looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone’s journeys better. This position is responsible for monitoring days on hand to meet financial requirements and inventory levels in the unit, coordinating all deliveries to ensure on-time delivery for daily production requirements, and monitoring menus and meal cycle changes for purchasing requirements. The role involves ensuring the unit maintains production standards, assists in the development and training of subordinates, and works with management staff to improve the performance of the unit. The Materials Manager is responsible for safety, quality, and compliance to customer specifications, maintaining the food production area according to unit policies, FDA, and HACCP regulations, and ensuring all security and safety procedures are enforced. This role also involves maintaining the accuracy and security of inventory, monitoring the thaw area and high-value inventories, and acting as the point of contact with production for the Buyer. Additionally, the Materials Manager works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and reports maintenance and repair issues in a timely manner. The role includes preparing management reports, responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling, and preparing corrective action for employees, and managing workflow balancing and daily manpower planning. Ensures compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including ensuring employees get rest & meal breaks and that company processes are followed. Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food expenses. Monitors daily manpower planning and schedules employees. Responsible for coaching, counseling, and preparing corrective actions for employees in compliance with applicable union/collective bargaining agreement(s). Reviews and ensures employees in the chain of command are in correct cost centers and correct job titles. Ensures compliance with all company required policies, procedures, and processes, including required training.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent required
Must have 3 years of supervisory/management experience, scheduling and financial acumen
Must be able to pass a 20yr Background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) process at Harry Reid International Airport
Candidate should be comfortable with all levels of employees and have the ability to drive positive program change
Must have strong and effective leadership skills, and successfully manage staff assigned to liquor and equipment.
Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Ability to train others required.
Must have the ability to give negative and positive feedback to employees on a daily basis.
Excellent time management skills required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities.
Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills required.
Must be innovative and have the ability to make changes to the operation as needed to further improve the work environment and unit performance.
Basic computer skills required.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Some college preferred
In-flight catering experience is highly desired, or experience in a high-volume food service industry
Current or previous labor relations experience is a plus, but not required
Experience with menu design a plus.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred
Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

Ensures unit maintains production standards
Ensures Labor Controls are in place and are effective
Ensures interdepartmental communication occurs regularly
Assist in the development and training of subordinates

Works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery according to schedules, reports maintenance and repair issues in timely manner.
Prepares management reports (ex. attendance, HAACCP and labor) reports as required.
Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other support functions.
Manages workflow balancing - - the division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift
Manages daily manpower planning including assignment of responsibilities and workstations.
Determines when and whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs (ex. sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes, etc.)
In conjunction with department leaders determines number of employees needed by shift
Ensures compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including ensuring employees get the rest & meal breaks and ensuring company processes are followed.
