Requirements

  • Minimum experience of 8-10 years working as a Material Manager, including experience in Purchasing, Inventory Control, Production Planning, and Shipping and Receiving.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines, multitask, and work under pressure.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience utilizing an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of the Navision ERP system.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies in the plant.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the implementation of corporate contracts.
  • Enters information into Navision and validates its correctness.
  • Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of storeroom and central supply personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices based on inventory needs after an inventory is taken.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
  • Interfaces with corporate purchasing on supplier problems and gives feedback on supplier quality.
  • Updates corporate purchasing on new products used and specification changes.
  • Works with the Controller to ensure Finance Policy 2100 is followed.
  • Works with suppliers on invoice and payment issues.
  • Directly supervises employees in the Purchasing Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
