About The Position

Cleaver-Brooks Canada Packaged Boiler Systems, a leading manufacturer of boilers and energy recovery systems, has an opening for a Materials Manager at their Stratford Ontario facility. This is a non-union role with a salary range of $105,000-$130,000 CAD per year. The hours of work are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday to Friday.

Requirements

  • Must possess leadership capability - ability to understand the motives and objectives of the Plant and communication/interpersonal skills to effectively carry out responsibilities and to develop and motivate others.
  • Must possess and apply intellect, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
  • Must possess creativity/adaptability to successfully manage Department to effectively address changing business conditions and to achieve objectives.
  • Must provide effective management of subordinates to achieve desired results. Attributes necessary to meet this need include communication, motivation, team building, employee involvement, diplomacy, delegating, etc. skills as well as confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Position requires the constant and consistent exercise of intellect, judgment, and ability commensurate with manager positions in similar industries or situations.
  • Familiar with ERP systems and able to provide training and direction to staff regarding system application to improve service levels within the organization.
  • Position requires regular exercise of decision making, problem solving, and policy or procedure interpretation skills.
  • Ability to handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required.
  • Requires good working knowledge of the steel and steel fabrication industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree, and/or designation of SCMP, CPP or CPPM (Supply Chain Management Professional/Certified Purchasing Professional Manager), or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Procurement/Materials/Logistics Management role.
  • Must possess thorough and relevant purchasing and inventory control knowledge and actively contribute to daily functions related to purchasing, receiving, inventory control practices and shipping directly, through personal direction to reporting staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the materials and logistics activities of the Company.
  • Develop and ensure that divisional and Company standard policies and procedures are followed in connection with purchases of materials and services.
  • Determine and recommend purchasing policy and procedure in accordance with Division and Company-wide policies and procedures.
  • Develop departmental budget.
  • Coordinate functions of production and inventory control.
  • Maintain liaison among plants, suppliers, and warehouse stores to provide efficient customer delivery service.
  • Develop methods and policies ensuring most efficient and economical movement of all materials in and out of plants.
  • Analyze and evaluate inventory and delivery problems and recommend/implement solutions.
  • Plan and organize activities of the material control and logistics departments to best utilize personnel to achieve short and long range goals.
  • Provide training of departmental personnel.
  • Identify vendors of materials, equipment or supplies and manage/participate in the negotiation of purchase contracts and related follow-up, and scheduling and expediting of deliveries.
  • Keep abreast of price trends in basic raw materials and supplies, make recommendations on timing and quality of purchases, and the establishment of most economical purchase quantities.
  • May prepare buyer's manuals to facilitate standard procurement practices.
  • Participate in preparations of annual forecasts with the sales divisions.
  • May participate in capital purchases and long-term contract negotiations.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
