About The Position

The Materials Manager is responsible for planning and organizing the activities of the material control department to achieve short- and long-range goals. This role involves training department personnel, ensuring adherence to standard procedures for purchases, and participating in annual forecasts. The manager will devise methods for efficient and economical movement of materials, analyze inventory and delivery issues, and coordinate functions related to production and inventory control. A key aspect of this role is maintaining liaison among plants, sales divisions, and warehouses to ensure efficient customer delivery service, with the authority to make decisions regarding materials and delivery. The position also involves participation in capital purchases and the authority to purchase materials not on established blanket orders through communication with corporate Materials Control. Additionally, the role includes leading and supporting LTA, MOS, and Continuous Improvement programs, and performing other assigned essential functions.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years’ experience, preferably with an automotive supplier.
  • Ability to understand and execute contracts relating to materials purchases and deliveries.

  • Devises methods and policies ensuring most efficient and economical movement of all material in and out of plants.
  • Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and recommends solutions.
  • Coordinates functions related to production and inventory control, and reviews completed sales orders.
  • Maintains liaison among plants, sales divisions, and warehouses to provide efficient Customer delivery service.
  • Participates in capital purchases.
  • Purchases materials, supplies, and processing not on established blanket orders through communication with corporate Materials Control.
  • Lead and support LTA, MOS and Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Performs other essential functions as assigned.
