About The Position

The Materials Manager is responsible for managing the planning, procurement, inventory, storage, and flow of materials required to support manufacturing operations. This position ensures that the right materials are at the right time and quantity while maintaining appropriate inventory levels, controlling costs, and supporting on-time production and customer delivery requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Planning, Inventory Control, or related Supply Chain roles in complex manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with SAP or an equivalent ERP system
  • Advanced MS Excel, ERP, Data Mining

Responsibilities

  • Manages and directs several of the following supply chain activities for the facility:
  • Manage material planning, procurement, and inventory to support manufacturing operations and customer demand.
  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, packaging, and production supplies to prevent production disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain material requirements based on production schedules, forecasts, MRP recommendations, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor material shortages, supplier delays, quality issues, and supply risks; develop and implement recovery plans.
  • Manage inventory levels, safety stock, reorder points, inventory turns, and day-on-hand optimize working capital.
  • Lead cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation activities to maintain high inventory accuracy.
  • Identify and reduce excess, obsolete, slow-moving, and aging inventory.
  • Ensure timely placement and execution of purchase orders.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, lead times, and cost.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and Operations to resolve material and supply-chain issues.
  • Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, including material masters, bills of material, lead times, safety stocks, and planning parameters.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators for inventory accuracy, material availability, supplier performance, and production support.
  • Lead cost-reduction and continuous-improvement initiatives focused on inventory, purchasing, freight, material waste, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and coach buyer/planner.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes, audits, and Lean Manufacturing/continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
