About The Position

Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is looking for a Materials Manager to join our team! The Materials Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership and oversight of all supply chain functions across NWOS, including sourcing, contracting, vendor management, and cost optimization. This role ensures the organization maintains high-quality, cost-effective supply solutions that support clinical and operational needs. The Materials Manager develops and implements procurement strategies, negotiates contracts, and oversees vendor performance while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. This position is accountable for supply chain financial performance, including budget development and cost savings initiatives. The Materials Manager provides leadership to the Supply Chain team, including direct supervision of the Supply Chain Supervisor, and partners with clinical and administrative leaders to align supply chain operations with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant supply chain, purchasing, or materials experience and management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire, if not already certified

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or ambulatory surgery center setting
  • Associates degree or higher
  • Working knowledge of healthcare supply chain practices, medical terminology, and regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and oversight of all supply chain functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Develops and implements sourcing and procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective acquisition of supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Leads the evaluation, selection, and contracting of vendors, including negotiating pricing, terms, and service agreements.
  • Oversees contract lifecycle management, including compliance, renewals, and performance evaluation.
  • Establishes and maintains strong vendor relationships, ensuring accountability to service levels, pricing agreements, and organizational expectations.
  • Monitors and drives vendor performance, addressing issues related to quality, service, and cost.
  • Ensures effective utilization of Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts and other negotiated agreements to maximize cost savings.
  • Oversees procurement processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with the Financial Authority Policy and organizational standards.
  • Develops and maintains supply chain policies and procedures to support consistent and compliant operations.
  • Collaborates with clinical and administrative leadership on product selection, standardization, and supply utilization strategies.
  • Analyzes supply chain data and key performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops and monitors supply chain budgets, identifying and implementing cost containment and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Establishes inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and prevent supply disruptions.
  • Provides oversight of supply chain systems and processes, ensuring accurate tracking of orders, inventory, recalls, and documentation.
  • Supports organizational readiness for regulatory and accreditation requirements related to supply chain functions.
  • Leads, mentors, and evaluates supply chain staff, including the Supply Chain Supervisor, to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Fosters collaboration and communication across departments to ensure supply chain needs are met effectively.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency, service levels, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provides guidance and escalation support for complex operational issues, including vendor disputes and supply disruptions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
