About The Position

The Materials Manager is responsible for purchasing, inventory management, receiving, storage, and distribution of supplies and medical equipment. This role directs and coordinates material management functions, maintains materials accountability systems to support the hospital, and is accountable for all medical supply/services spend and resultant financial results with respect to budget/forecasting/targets. The position also involves managing direct reports, building relationships with peer department heads and administrative leadership teams, representing Supply Chain in various committees and meetings, and directing product conversion efforts. The Materials Manager is accountable for meeting Supply Chain measures of success related to spend/inventory/HR/customer satisfaction, and is responsible for the continuous improvement of material flow, utilization analysis, and supply chain optimization. This role is charged to continually develop hospital identified savings prospects and exploit known opportunities. Additionally, the position involves setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews, developing talent through mentoring, training, and career development initiatives, and promoting a collaborative and engaging work environment that aligns with company values. The role requires managing conflict, making timely decisions, conducting regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations, approving timecards, schedules, time-off requests, and other administrative HR functions, and ensuring compliance with company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree Business Administration or related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
  • A minimum five years’ experience in a Materials Management supervisory capacity.
