Materials Manager, Networking & Hardware

Fluidstack•Austin, TX
•$155,000 - $199,000

About The Position

Fluidstack is building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI, aiming to deliver 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else. This involves rethinking every layer of the stack, from acquiring power to operating data centers with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are key differentiators. The Supply Chain Team is central to this mission, working on problems such as supplying tens of gigawatts of compute, qualifying and dual-sourcing critical equipment, and making supply chain a driver of speed rather than a constraint. They also aim to build the most accurate supply chain prediction modeling using AI to forecast lead times, demand, and disruptions. The Role Scope involves owning the networking hardware category, including switches, routers, and DPUs for large accelerator clusters. This includes negotiating supply agreements with networking OEMs for price, lead time, and roadmap access, dual-sourcing critical switch platforms, and managing the associated qualification processes. It also requires aligning buy plans with network engineering roadmaps to ensure hardware generations are available when needed for designs.

Requirements

  • Sourced networking hardware at scale from major OEMs.
  • Handled end-of-life and generation transitions without stranding inventory or stalling builds.
  • Understand enough of the technology (optics, ASICs, port speeds) to negotiate credibly with product teams.
  • Kept firmware, licensing, and support terms from becoming the expensive surprise later.

Nice To Haves

  • AI/HPC fabric hardware.
  • White-box and ODM switching.
  • Optics supply chains.
  • Vendor financing structures.

Responsibilities

  • Own the networking hardware category: switches, routers, and DPUs for fabrics connecting 100k+ accelerator clusters.
  • Negotiate supply agreements with networking OEMs covering price, lead time, and roadmap access.
  • Dual-source critical switch platforms and manage the qualification burden that dual-sourcing creates.
  • Align buy plans with network engineering roadmaps so hardware generations land when designs need them, not after.

Benefits

  • Commitment to pay equity and transparency.
  • Equal Employment Opportunity Employer status.
