About The Position

The Materials Management Coordinator will provide support with all medical supplies and equipment for hospital departments. This role involves receiving, storing, controlling, and delivering materials, equipment, and supplies to various hospital departments. The position is responsible for the purchasing and procurement of supplies and equipment, and for developing and maintaining customer relations between the Surgical Services Department and Materials Management. It requires incorporating purchasing knowledge with established standards of practice to ensure quality and safe patient care through the procurement of appropriate products in a cost-effective manner. The Materials Coordinator works in collaboration with the management team to meet the procedural supplies and equipment needs for all USC Verdugo Hills and is responsible for working with vendors to ensure a good relationship between the vendor and the hospital.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ hospital experience in the OR/ Materials Management.
  • Thorough knowledge of all medical supplies utilized in the medical facility.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique as it applies to supply handling.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Displays behavior conducive to excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of Inventory Management, Clinical Documentation, inventory control and contract compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability skills in problem-solving.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to operate computer and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computers and how they work in a Material Management setting preferred.
  • CSPD or Surgical Tech. certificate preferred.
