About The Position

The Materials Lead performs all material handling functions as required, supporting the Operations Support Supervisor to ensure inbound and outbound functions consistently meet daily, weekly, and monthly departmental goals. This role requires adherence to all Crown Packaging safety and health rules and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The position involves maintaining a clean and organized department, ensuring equipment operator checklists are completed daily, and accurately receiving components in required systems like WMS. Responsibilities include assigning LPNs, work orders, or GR tag quantities, printing labels, and forwarding necessary paperwork. The Materials Lead is also responsible for ensuring personnel replenish supplies and materials, perform re-stock processes correctly, and place skids in designated areas. Understanding freight bill requirements for outbound shipments, preparing Bills of Lading, performing re-deploy processes, and following dunnage procedures are key aspects of the role. Familiarity with warehouse layout, including bin locations and floor assignments, is essential for efficient material location using a scanner. The role also involves preparing non-conformances related to material issues identified during shipping or receiving.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all material handling functions as required.
  • Support the Operations Support Supervisor to ensure inbound and outbound functions consistently meet departmental goals.
  • Follow all Crown Packaging safety and health rules and regulations, and wear or use required protective equipment.
  • Report hazardous conditions to the employer.
  • Report any job-related injury or illness to the supervisor or manager and seek treatment promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized department.
  • Ensure assigned personnel complete the equipment operator checklist daily.
  • Receive components in required systems including WMS.
  • Assign LPN, work order, or GR tag quantities to work orders in required system accurately.
  • Print labels as needed.
  • Forward all required paperwork to operations/inventory/purchasing.
  • Ensure assigned personnel replenish supplies and materials at workstations and in marked locations.
  • Ensure personnel perform the Re-Stock process correctly.
  • Ensure personnel place skids in properly marked areas on a consistent basis.
  • Understand freight bill requirements for outbound shipments per customer and Crown requirements.
  • Prepare Bills of Lading properly when required.
  • Perform re-deploy process relating to outbound shipments when required.
  • Follow dunnage process (inbound and outbound).
  • Maintain familiarity of warehouse layout (bin locations) including floor assignments for inbound freight and how to locate with scanner.
  • Prepare non-conformances related to material issues found during shipping or receiving process.
