About The Position

As the Pipe Fabrication Shop Materials Coordinator / Lead, you will be responsible for executing and leading your materials team in maintaining material inventories for entries, transfers, allocations, and reconciliation plus some excel detail lists for loose material shipments. Accuracy and auditing are key functions to this position. Provide internal and external customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years Piping Industry experience with nuclear piping experience considered an asset.
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to multi-task for the position held, sometimes on the run
  • Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kan-ban, Visual Factory, Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping)
  • Good interpersonal written and verbal communications skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP database
  • Proficient in MS Office Products
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment

Responsibilities

  • RFQ pricing and requisitioning of materials to meet Fabrication project needs with Project Manager and/or Facility Manager approval
  • Expediting materials with Purchasing or Clients to meet fabrication schedules
  • Coordinating allocation of material and materials Access Database entry with the Materials Clerk, when position is filled.
  • Database allocation of pipe spools based on Client Priority Schedule
  • Maintain and track all fabrication materials in a Database or Excel spreadsheet as per Project Managers and/or Facilities Manager directions.
  • Data validation and coordination with Drafting for incoming Transmittals of spool BOM’s
  • Review material entries and maintain accuracy in the Access Database
  • Timely material shortage and summary reports for internal Project Managers, Site Teams and Customer Representatives
  • Coordination of work with QC, Procurement & Pipe Shop
  • Processing Holds, Revisions and Cancellations of spool BOM’s into a Database when directed from Drafting
  • Coordination of incoming materials for the Receiving Department, trying to prevent peaks and valleys
  • Work well within a combined non-Union and Unionized work force
  • Return and document materials no longer required by Pipe Shop to correct storage location
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the Databases and process efficiencies
  • Ensure Monthly Inventory storage reports are completed and documented.
  • Support all requirements for Lean Manufacturing
  • Follow current Nuclear Manual and QCP’s as they apply to the Pipe Fabrication Shop Material Coordinator’s position
  • Complete all new internal training for Nuclear QCP’s as they apply to the Pipe Fabrication Shop Material Coordinator’s position.
  • Direct the Unionized Shipping & Receiving Supervisors daily/weekly tasks
  • Direct Materials Clerk in daily/weekly tasks.
  • Uphold Aecon Safety requirements.
  • Report and submission of general shop material inventory to management as requested.
