About The Position

The Materials Helper assists the Senior Storekeeper with their responsibilities as they apply to warehouse activities. This role involves organizing and inventorying warehouse materials, preparing materials for outgoing shipment, and maintaining a clean work environment. The helper will also assist customers and employees with locating, loading, and unloading materials. This is a position covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Georgia Power and IBEW Local 84 and is governed by this agreement. Union membership is optional. The starting salary is non-negotiable and is governed by the agreement, which includes increases every six months with satisfactory performance until the maximum is reached in the job classification, and a negotiated general increase every July.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Successful completion of the Warehouse Assessment Test is required
  • Ability to follow instructions and translate those instructions into action items
  • Must be able to interact with various internal customers
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs continuously/repetitively is required
  • Ability to work overtime and storm duty when necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Warehouse related experience and/or background is highly preferred
  • Computer literacy desirable
  • May be required to travel to other Region Storerooms to assist as needed
  • Customer oriented team player who is willing to learn, be flexible, and self-motivated
  • Individual must show a strong dedication to safety
