Materials Handler

About The Position

The Materials Handler maintains inventory, locates materials for production orders, and prepares finished stock for shipment. The role supports safety compliance, productivity, quality, communication, continuous improvement, accountability, and a positive workplace culture. It also contributes to ordering or purchasing standard stock items within established procedures and limits.

Requirements

Current and valid OSHA forklift operation certificate.
High school diploma or GED.
Strong attention to detail.
At least 1 year of inventory management experience.
Able to walk and stand for extended periods.
Able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
Able to crawl on hands and knees and climb a ladder.
Able to work long hours.
Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, sometimes including extreme cold and heat.

Responsibilities

Learn and understand company safety policies and procedures, and promote compliance.
Focus on increasing productivity and lowering material costs while maintaining expected levels of quality and communication with superiors.
Assist in transforming the shop floor culture toward continuous improvement and accountability.
Demonstrate reliability through exceptional attendance and contribute to a positive culture.
Identify, label, and place materials and supplies in stock, and record inventory locations.
Pull and verify materials and supplies listed on production orders.
Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing products.
Document product shipments by recording units shipped.
Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs.
Maintain in-process inventory.
Contribute to the team by accomplishing related results as needed.
Participate in ordering or purchasing standard stock items, including recommending additions or deletions and ordering replenishments within established procedures and limits.
