About The Position

The Materials Equipment Specialist coordinates equipment maintenance, repair, and flow. The role manages and establishes a cost-effective supply distribution system by evaluating and monitoring supply storage, back orders, and pricing while maintaining adequate quantities of supplies.

The Specialist interacts with hospital end-users and vendors, assisting end-users in procuring non-routine, non-standard goods and services. The role identifies appropriate vendors for supplies and services, using approved vendors whenever possible and following policies, standards, procedures, and existing contracts.

The primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with rotating weekends. Individuals providing care to vulnerable populations must undergo background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Requirements

• Two years of related experience, preferably in a health care setting.
• High school diploma, GED, or certificate.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to prioritize a variety of duties.
• Ability to take initiative and solve problems with little or no assistance.
• Proficiency with software, including Excel, and prior experience with PeopleSoft.
• Ability to meet deadlines and timetables.
• Knowledge of budgets, accounting, and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of healthcare purchasing and distribution.
