About The Position

Solid Power is seeking a Materials Engineering Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists dedicated to advancing next-generation all-solid-state battery technology. In this role, you will contribute to cutting-edge research and development efforts focused on revolutionary energy storage solutions that are shaping the future of the battery industry. As part of our dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced environment, you will work alongside experienced technical professionals, gaining hands-on experience in materials development, process optimization, and experimental research. The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field and is eager to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges in advanced battery technology.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of materials characterization techniques.
  • Understanding of safe handling practices for hazardous materials and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work on-site at our Louisville, CO location.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with polymer processing or wet-chemical materials processing methods, such as mixing, slurry preparation, casting, coating, or drying, is preferred.
  • Experience with synthetic chemistry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of lithium-ion battery materials, synthesis methods, and materials optimization is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Engineers to support and execute experimental plans focused on optimizing sulfide solid-state electrolytes.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation of experimental results.
  • Support polymer processing activities, including slurry preparation, mixing, casting, coating, drying, and material handling for development-scale experiments.
  • Document process conditions, observations, and results to support process optimization and scale-up efforts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through routine housekeeping activities.
  • Safely handle hazardous materials, chemicals, and laboratory equipment in accordance with established procedures.
