About The Position

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Materials Engineering CO-OP to assist with a variety of engineering and research assignments focused on raw material characterization and qualification projects. The CO-OP will have the opportunity to collaborate with Global Material Suppliers and Teams both domestically and internationally. This role is part of the Career Programs within Johnson & Johnson's Innovative Medicine and MedTech sectors, aiming to develop smarter, less invasive, and more personalized treatments.

Requirements

  • Current student of Chemical Engineering/Material Science and Engineering/Bioengineering/Polymer Science and Engineering or equivalent required experience.
  • 0 to 3 years with a BS in Engineering or Science related field.
  • Graduate school students are encouraged to apply.
  • Availability to work on site if the position requires it.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Statistical design and analysis of experiments (Minitab or any statistical analysis tool).
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship requirements.
  • Must remain actively enrolled in their academic program throughout the entire internship period.
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week during the internship.
  • Should have a minimum GPA of 3.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Review the progress and evaluate the data of multiple projects across various functional groups and present the results.
  • Coordinate raw material and contact lens testing and protocol requirements as necessary to achieve project completion.
  • Facilitate and conduct engineering assignments involving business continuity and cost improvement projects.
  • Act as an advocate for the continuous improvement of technology and processes.
  • Adhere to environmental policy and procedures and support department environmental objectives.
  • Work with both internal multi-functional teams and interact with external partners and raw material suppliers both domestically and internationally.
