About The Position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full-time Early Career Materials Engineer. In this role, you will work a broad variety of tasks related to metallic and organic materials engineering. This may include developing requirements for electrical joining of spacecraft wiring, support of hypersonic-tolerant coating tests, and development of thermal control films. The successful candidate will have experience with working projects that require high attention to detail, and ability to problem solve on-the-fly. Must be a US Citizen.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Coursework or experience with either metals, composites, polymers, adhesives, OR coatings
  • Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated high attention to detail with projects (large test programs, sensitive processes, etc.)
  • Knowledge of laboratory material evaluation methods (mechanical, optical, surface chemistry, etc.)
  • Experience with metallurgy, heat treatments, and welding
  • Experience with electrical wiring (crimping and harnesses)
  • Experience with adhesives and paints/coatings
