About The Position

Eaton is seeking a Technician to work in the Materials Development Lab at Eaton’s Thomas A. Edison Technical Center site in Franksville, WI. Join a team that plays a critical role in advancing transformer technology and ensuring product quality. As a Materials Development Laboratory (MDL) Technician, you will work with specialized testing equipment and analytical methods to generate the data that supports manufacturing, product performance, safety, and innovation. This is a hands-on laboratory role where your technical expertise, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills directly contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Franksville, WI site. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials science or chemistry is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience working in a laboratory environment is also preferred.
  • Working knowledge of rubber and filler mixing, operating mixing and molding equipment is a bonus.
  • Experience in mechanical and analytical testing techniques is helpful.
  • Knowledge in the application of dielectric testing and optical microscopy is desired.
  • Experience in FT-IR and GC to analyze organic groups in polymers and raw materials is a plus.
  • Experience with lab automation software and electrical system modeling is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing and analysis of transformer oils using a variety of chemical and physical testing methods.
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of test results to support production, quality, and engineering objectives.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment through calibration, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support the development and improvement of testing procedures to enhance safety, reliability, quality, and efficiency.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, and safety teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Contribute to a safe, organized, and high-performing laboratory environment that supports business and customer needs.
