About The Position

The Materials Data Curator provides materials data stewardship in direct support of the engineering community’s ability to locate, interpret, and apply historical and current data within MAPTIS. Responsibilities include: Creating, organizing, and maintaining materials records to ensure discoverability, traceability, and long-term accessibility of engineering data Serving as subject matter expert on data organization and provenance, assisting engineers in locating historical materials data, including legacy records not readily discoverable through standard search Applying institutional knowledge of materials data structure, history, and context to support engineering research, material selection, and other engineering activities Supporting data quality and completeness by identifying gaps, inconsistencies, or missing linkages within materials records Partnering with engineering staff to document and preserve institutional knowledge related to data organization, historical context, and retrieval methods, in direct support of the department’s knowledge preservation objectives Contributing subject matter expertise to the department’s digital transformation initiative, including requirements definition for improved data discoverability and search capability.
