About The Position

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has a great opportunity for a Material Control Manager. This position is responsible for the overall Master Scheduling, Capacity Planning, development and maintenance of our inventory management systems and overseeing the daily operation of Production Control and dispatching functions. This includes acceptance of sales orders to create detailed capacity plans plus plant and supplier schedules using the MRP systems. This position is responsible for the release of the work to the shop in a timely fashion as well as the management of Engineering changes' effects on the materials. Key to the position is the ability to constantly balance capacity and material availability with the customer requirements so as to complete them in a timely and cost-effective manner. This position is responsible for the warehouse (store) and ensures that all materials and tools are cycle counted so that computer inventory reflects the physical inventories and assists in the management of bottleneck resources to minimize loss to schedule.

Requirements

  • 4 yr. College Degree (Business Administration, Accounting)
  • 5-10 yrs. work experience in a Manufacturing environment preferably Aerospace
  • Manufacturing Leadership Certificate Program
  • APICS CPIM
  • Managerial experience in building effective teams
  • Managerial experience in Unionized environment is an asset
  • Is expected to work with minimum guidance and direct supervision
  • Knowledge of concepts/consequences related to inventory, stores, shipping and receiving
  • Expertise in cost accounting and customer forecasting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Skills: Computer skills: Data Base, Spread Sheet Development. In depth knowledge of MRP/ERP system. Extensive Database & Spreadsheet applications, integrating with MRP/ERP sys. Experience in implementation of new ERP system and or transition from one to another is an asset. Problem solving techniques such as 5 WHY’s, fishbone analysis, 8D’s, etc.
  • Abilities: Critical thinking. Able to cope with internal and external tight deadlines and demands

  • Managerial experience in Unionized environment is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Establish master schedule to ensure customer requirements are appropriately represented in MRP/ERP system.
  • Assist in prioritizing production in critical resource centers to minimize risk to the work schedule.
  • Manage/assist with requisition of direct materials.
  • Manage inventory counting, audit & re-organization activities, including layout of stores & shipping
  • Responsible for applying and reviewing planning rules such as lead-times, batch sizes, safety stocks and shrinkage factors.
  • Manage the process of providing cumulative lead times and available capacity for Marketing & Contracts to use in quotations preparation.
  • Manage personnel and activities of the shipping receiving & material planning departments; responsible for performance appraisals, budgeting, training, mentoring.
  • Ensure that the departments operate in a safe manner.
  • Manage/co-ordinate monthly & annual production plans based on annual budget and sales forecast.
  • Assist in the implementation of process improvement involving the CINCOM system & activities of the department
  • Monthly capacity reporting, daily & weekly reporting to Management, Corporate for compliance: MRP, Requisitions, Inventory Management, MOS
  • Develop/Maintain departmental procedures in compliance with MAM’s Quality Manual, AS9100 Standard, Corporate general policies & procedures (including MOS) requirements
  • Monitor Line of Balances & assist in development, streamline, of new processes for Supply Chain
  • Manage MOS (Magellan Operating System) actions to ensure satisfactory MOS process and performance scores are obtained and maintained
  • Manage the company and customer owned tools to accurately present the current status of each tool and manage the removal of surplus tools from Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga. Assist with special requests to tooling inventory, tool reporting / disposal.
  • Manage scrap reporting in DRIMIS (Defence Resource Management Information System)
