About The Position

The Materials Tech is an all-around team member trained to perform various functions within the Materials Management department. Under the direction of leadership, the Materials Tech handles PAR and inventory management, supply and equipment receiving, delivery, and inventory management, and/or case carts. Tasks performed may vary based on hospital volume and department staffing. This role may require operating a company vehicle and necessitates a valid South Carolina driver's license and insurability.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Valid, current South Carolina driver's license and insurable under the organization's vehicle insurance plan.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (ex. fax machine, printers, PC’s).
  • Can handle supply carts and can operate cardboard compactor, manual and powered pallet jacks.
  • Requires full range of body motion, manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires constant walking and standing with moderate to strenuous exertion in pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting medium to heavy weight supplies.
  • Must be able to work in dry and dusty atmosphere and may be exposed to inclement conditions.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs.
  • Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Windows.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse preferred, or previous customer service or retail experience.
  • Proficient in PMM Pathways, with Supply Tracking System and the ability to use handheld scanners preferred.
  • Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service while working as a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PAR and inventory management, including counting and checking inventories at PAR locations.
  • Fill on-demand requests for supplies and rotate stock at PAR locations.
  • Check for outdates at PAR locations and issue products from the storeroom.
  • Maintain a clean and organized materials storage area.
  • Deliver products from the storeroom when ordered or prepare Case Carts based on pick tickets.
  • Communicate any shortages or discrepancies immediately to the appropriate Logistics Manager or Materials Supervisor.
  • Deliver products ordered by customers in a timely manner and request signatures as required.
  • Utilize handheld scanners appropriately to track chain of custody for packages received and delivered.
  • Follow defined processes to ensure receipts are accurate before placing products into inventory.
  • Assist in keeping delivery areas clean and functional.
  • Exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn policies concerning infection control.
