About The Position

Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Materials Buyer to join our team in Richmond, VA. Relocation assistance within the US will be provided. The Materials Buyer is responsible for the procurement of a variety of complex materials and services in order to effectively support the production requirements for the plant; develop appropriate stocking strategies; work with corporate resources to identify product supply sources, and review and negotiate purchase price; work with supplier quality team to qualify vendors to ensure the overall conformance of materials purchased to manufacturing specifications; assist facility with new product development; and manage vendor relationships/quality/delivery/inventory levels in accordance with plant objectives. The expected annual salary range for this role is $71,000 - $105,000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, operations or a combination of those functions OR High School Diploma with minimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, operations or a combination of those functions.

  • Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Proven experience in process development, implementation and sustainability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Two (2)+ years of procurement or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Two (2)+ years of experience working with MRP / ERP systems preferred (SAP, Made 2 Manage)
  • Experience working in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Supports sourcing and purchasing of materials, parts, and supplies by preparing RFQs, placing purchase orders, and following established purchasing policies to meet price and delivery requirements.
  • Works with suppliers on order status, delivery schedules, and changes; communicates shortages, delays, and supply issues to internal stakeholders and escalates concerns as needed.
  • Assists in resolving delivery, quality, and pricing issues by coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to minimize disruptions to material flow.
  • Maintains accurate and timely purchasing and supplier information in procurement systems and ensures documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Partners with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and other teams to support material availability and participates in continuous improvement efforts.
