The Materials & Processes Engineering and Mechanical Disciplines (MPE + MD) department is seeking talented engineering candidates to join our summer internship program. The internship program typically lasts 10-12 weeks. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD degree program in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering/sciences field.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (this position may require access to systems/tools restricted to individuals with U.S. citizenship).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in building a technical career in applied materials development and characterization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in teams, both as a leader and a participant.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting engine component evaluations for commercial and military jet engine applications.
  • Developing materials and/or chemical processes, performing analyses, and supporting testing initiatives.
  • Performing tasks such as: Mechanical testing, Structural analysis or structural software tool development, Materials analysis, metallurgical or chemical analysis, Inspection processes or coating property analysis.
  • Documenting and analyzing data/results, preparing reports and presentations.
  • Drawing conclusions and making recommendations based on experimental findings.
