About The Position

Join CDOT’s Materials and Geotechnical team and help support the construction and maintenance of Colorado’s transportation system. This position performs materials testing on soils, concrete, aggregates, and steel for CDOT projects and local agency projects throughout the region. You’ll also operate the inertial profiler and assist with High-Speed Profiling certification, helping ensure materials and roadway surfaces meet established quality standards.

Requirements

A high school diploma or GED; AND at least five (5) years of experience in any combination of the following: assisting in the design of construction plans, monitoring construction projects by conducting materials testing, project inspection, and documentation.
A current valid driver’s license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position.
Must pass a pre-employment screening which may include social security number trace, criminal records check, public court records check, educational records, and driving records checks.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing on soils, concrete, aggregates, steel, and other construction materials for CDOT and local agency projects.
Receive, process, track, and evaluate material samples and maintain accurate testing records and documentation.
Review test results for accuracy and identify discrepancies, specification deviations, or samples requiring additional testing.
Schedule and operate the inertial profiler throughout Colorado to measure pavement smoothness and support verification testing.
Maintain the inertial profiler and other laboratory/testing equipment, including required maintenance, calibration, inspections, and documentation.
Assist with CDOT’s annual High-Speed Profiling Certification Program, including course setup, measurements, and certification activities.
Support CCRL/AASHTO laboratory accreditation activities and ensure testing equipment meets applicable requirements.
Operate a forklift and assist with transporting, loading, unloading, and organizing materials, samples, equipment, and supplies.
Complete required training and certifications and assist with research studies and other laboratory activities as assigned.
