About The Position

Woodside is seeking a Materials and Corrosion Engineer (MICE) to provide specialist materials, welding, coating, and corrosion support on the LALNG Project. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and timely execution of the engineering scope for the LALNG development. The role supports the LALNG development across Engineering, Construction, Project, and eventual Operations phases. Key responsibilities include providing specialist materials engineering support, delivering RBI for LNG and Project Pressure Equipment, managing the Materials scope for the Engineering Assurance Plan, conducting MICE Peer Reviews, developing Preservation Strategies, and providing materials engineering support for HAZOP close-out, TDRQs, and Construction queries. The role also involves providing technical input and support to broader LALNG Engineering, Construction, and ORG teams. Internally, the role manages interfaces with the LALNG Perth Engineering Team, LALNG Houston Engineering Team, LALNG Construction Team (Sulfur, LA), LALNG Project Team and Project Management, and LALNG Ops Readiness Group. Externally, interfaces are managed with Bechtel Materials Engineering Technology (MET) and Mechanical Engineering Teams, and Specialist sub-contractors.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in the discipline of materials and corrosion engineering.
  • Experience with onshore or offshore production, project engineering, or inspection engineering.
  • Degree qualified engineer in relevant discipline.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Material selection codes (including IOGP S-563, ISO 21457 and ISO 13628).
  • Familiarity with Welding management (including AWS D1.1, AS 1554, ASME IX).
  • Familiarity with Coating implementation codes (including NACE, SSPC, Norsok M-501, ISO 12944).
  • Familiarity with Cathodic protection codes (including DNV-RP-B401, DNV-RP-F112).
  • Familiarity with Engineering construction codes (including DNV-ST-F101, ASME VIII, ASME B31.3 and B31.8).
  • Familiarity with US Gulf Coast and Federal regulatory standards (including CFR 193, NFP 59A and Department of Transport).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous LNG project or operations experience preferred.

  • Responsible for engaging with MICE TA support to ensure input and assurance from relevant subject matter experts and integrity authorities.
  • Specialist Materials Engineering support including: Materials selection, Welding management, Coating specification and implementation, Cathodic Protection (CP) design review, Management of specialist contractors (welding, inspection, castings).
  • Deliver RBI for LNG and Project Pressure Equipment.
  • Deliver Materials scope for Engineering Assurance Plan.
