About The Position

The MARP team is looking for a proactive and reliable Material Support Technician to ensure our animal facility runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This role involves keeping spaces organised, operating specialised equipment, and working with a supportive team. As a core member of our service team, you will keep our facility stocked, sanitised, and running like clockwork.

Requirements

• Completion of Year 10, a relevant trades certificate, OR equivalent practical experience.
• Comfortable operating mechanical equipment (autoclaves, industrial washers).
• Proven track record of safe manual handling (regularly lifting up to 15kg).
• Outstanding communication skills and a respectful, collegiate approach to working with facility staff.
• Strong time-management skills to meet tight schedules and keep supplies stocked.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel) and email platforms (Gmail) for accurate record-keeping.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in animal care or biomedical research is a huge plus!
• Experience with inventory management/ordering.
• A current forklift license.

Responsibilities

• Operating specialised equipment (sterilisers, tunnel/cabinet washers, steam boilers) to clean and prepare caging, water bottles, and environmental enrichment.
• Managing consumable stock levels, tracking deliveries, and keeping accurate records of incoming/outgoing goods.
• Performing routine maintenance (filter cleans, water changes, detergent refills) and liaising with contractors for repairs when needed.
• Following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and facility health.
