About The Position

This pivotal role is the owner of the Material Review (MR0) location. All rejected castings, whether from in-process inspection, final inspection, or outsider customers (customer returns) go through the material review area. The Material Review Technician is responsible for dispositioning all rejects back into process or scrapped out.

Requirements

Requires extensive experience in backend operations and customer requirements for casting.
Intermediate to advanced capabilities in Visibility.
Intermediate to advanced comfort in using computers.
Able to understand and apply sound judgment to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram.
Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.

Responsibilities

Disposition rejections by creating rework travelers in Visibility and distributing.
Active member of daily scrap meeting to disposition scrap to departments for repair and into scrap barrels.
Gather proposed scrap from all areas in plant on daily basis.
Work with department supervisors, inspection personnel, and engineers to accurately determine rework/scrap reason codes.
Determine when parts should be brought to the attention of various engineers for possible serious issues, as well as when it is time to no longer rework parts.
Utilize knowledge of customer and casting requirements in disposition.
Communicates issues effectively and in a timely manner with Quality Manager.
Work in close partnership with managers, supervisors, leads and operators in a collaborative manner to ensure all issues are understood and addressed.
Addresses problems and issues with a team first mentality.
Puts quality and integrity of paperwork and work instructions above all else.
Performs other functions as assigned.
