The business area supports the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy and Missile Defense Agency, as well as intelligence, civil, commercial and international military customers. The Sr. Process Engineer will lead composite process development work in Owego, defining new processes that improve both yield and cost savings. They will also serve as an integral member of the team working with adhesives and sealants for our circuit‑board manufacturing line.

Requirements

  • 2+ years demonstrated experience with non metallic materials such as sealants, adhesives, polymers, or composites.
  • Ability to develop and qualify manufacturing processes, working closely with machine shop and finishing teams.
  • Familiarity with material property testing, ASTM standards, and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Direct project or work experience that includes prototype build up, test execution, and data analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering (or an equivalent mix of education and professional experience).
  • Autoclave/ Heat Treatment cure cycle development expertise
  • Ability to set up/transition new equipment and new manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and detailed specifications.
  • Knowledge to create and revise material and process specifications, reports, and test plans.
  • Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations.
  • Knowledgeable of general manufacturing and integration processes

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and optimization of composite manufacturing processes, applying innovative techniques to increase yield and reduce production costs.
  • Design, test, and qualify adhesive and sealant applications for circuit‑board assemblies, ensuring reliability and performance across defense programs.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including materials, quality, and manufacturing engineering—to integrate process improvements into high‑volume production.
  • Analyze process data, identify root‑cause defects, and implement corrective actions that drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and safety.
  • Support the transfer of new processes from pilot to full‑scale manufacturing, coordinating with supply chain and production leadership.
