About The Position

Zipline is the world’s largest and most experienced drone delivery service, aiming to serve all humans equally by ensuring access to essential goods. They design, build, and operate the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, making deliveries globally. The company is looking for practical problem solvers who thrive on real-world challenges and rapid growth, motivated by building systems with a direct, meaningful impact. The Integrated Planning & Business Operations team plans and drives materials for Zipline’s expansion into new metros across the United States, focusing on building planning and analytical frameworks for supply chain health, vendor partnerships, and component availability. The Material Planning Intern will facilitate high-level planning and tactical execution for hardware material readiness, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Global Supply Management to refine reporting, optimize vendor interactions, and drive vehicle system deployment. This role requires a collaborative, detail-oriented individual to support Zipline’s global scaling efforts. This is an onsite internship at their headquarters in South San Francisco.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a technical discipline.
  • Superior analytical capabilities with a proficiency in data tools, ranging from advanced Excel to SQL or Python.
  • The ability to translate complex findings into clear insights for diverse internal stakeholders.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset characterized by a comfort with ambiguity and a drive to propose and execute solutions independently.
  • A genuine passion for our mission and a commitment to making an impact from the first day of your internship.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of Clear to Build (CTB) tracking for vital systems, assisting with risk mitigation and cross-team communication.
  • Develop automated reporting and visibility dashboards focused on part shortages, shipment logistics, and other essential planning data.
  • Optimize spares management by evaluating consumption patterns and proposing stocking methodologies for current flight programs.
  • Establish standardized supplier reporting formats for capacity updates and delivery timelines to streamline data intake.
  • Iterate on scalable planning workflows and tools that enhance transparency across all functional departments.
