About The Position

The Material Planner/Scheduler is responsible for monitoring and adjusting material master data settings to ensure accuracy of safety stock, supplier contact information, and other essential fields. This role involves determining order needs, generating purchase orders, and managing system-proposed changes. The position focuses on optimizing material master data and settings for efficient order acknowledgment, production, inventory management, and timely shipping to meet customer demands. Key performance indicators for planning, such as delivery performance, inventory levels, and costs, will be monitored, analyzed, and improved. The role also entails leading continuous improvement efforts in information flow between customers, sales, and supplying plants, applying lean principles to enhance the material supply chain and customer service levels. Support for new product introductions (phase-ins/phase-outs) and engineering changes is required, ensuring customer requirements are met while minimizing obsolescence risk. The Material Planner/Scheduler will initiate and manage escalations with suppliers to resolve supply chain issues and perform data analysis to identify improvement potentials and root causes of supply chain problems. Other essential and related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • A minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Direct experience in production planning, scheduling, materials planning, or supply chain coordination preferred.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain principles, including demand planning, inventory management, capacity planning, and production flow.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions that balance customer demand, inventory levels, and production capacity.
  • Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, along with Outlook and Teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across production, procurement, customer service, and leadership teams.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining service levels and on-time delivery performance.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify risks, escalate issues appropriately, and implement corrective actions.
  • Flexibility and resilience to adapt to shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and changes in demand or supply constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and adjust material master data settings for all parts to ensure Safety Stock, supplier contact information, and all other necessary master data fields are correct.
  • Determine items to be ordered, generate purchase orders, and follow up on all changes proposed by the system.
  • Constantly optimize material master data and other settings to obtain highest efficiency in acknowledging orders, producing orders, managing inventory and shipping material to meet customer demands.
  • Monitor, analyze and improve key performance indicators for planning (e.g. delivery performance, inventory, costs).
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in the area of information flow between customer, sales and supplying plants to establish and improve the material supply chain and service level to the customer by applying lean principles.
  • Support new product introductions (phase-ins/phase-outs) and engineering/revision changes with sales, production team and supplying plant to meet customer requirements while minimizing obsolescence risk.
  • Start and manage escalations with suppliers to solve various types of issues in the supply chain.
  • Perform data analysis for uncovering improvement potentials and determining root causes of supply chain issues.
  • Perform other essential and related duties as may be assigned.
