About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Material Mover ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Material Mover will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. The general purpose of the Material Mover is the responsible person for the accurate accounting of inventory including processing, recording and distributing supplies and materials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste and smell.
  • Must frequently lift up 10 to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Responsibilities

  • Use dispatch to pull material for outgoing jobs.
  • Using industrial powered vehicles to obtain material from the inventory shelving.
  • Inspect and pack materials per requirements.
  • Transport materials to different locations within the facility to support workflow.
  • Stock materials when not needed for shipping.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, condensed and organized work space.
  • Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments
