The Material Inspector's primary role is to accurately weigh batches to enable Right the First Time (RFT) goals for processing and to meet departmental goals of average pre-weighs (PWs) while working in a timely manner with accuracy. This position involves assisting in preparing batch spices according to the production schedule and established formulas, weighing and measuring spices and ingredients, and maintaining accuracy. The role requires adherence to spice room standard operating procedures (SOPs), accurate completion of batch sheets with material supplier lot numbers using FIFO rotation, and training in the Hazardous Material Identification System (HMIS). The Material Inspector will also learn cooler and warehouse rack locations for spice room ingredients to gather needed amounts and may assist processors by scanning batches. General cleanup, including chemical training for foamer use, is also part of the responsibilities. A critical aspect of this role is adhering to all food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria, including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and its associated preventive controls.
