About The Position

Under the direction of the Receiving & Shipping Supervisor, the Material Handling Tech is responsible for operating a forklift to take material, then loading, unloading, and moving it to a designated area on the shop floor, meeting customer requirements. This role involves operating a multi-directional forklift, loading and unloading materials, and potentially using an overhead crane. The position requires close collaboration with team members, adherence to safety regulations, and maintaining a clean work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior forklifting experience required
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
• Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Operating a multi-directional forklift moving material from one destination to another
• Loads and unloads material onto or form pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
• Ability to use an overhead crane
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Work closely with team members and communicates in an efficient way
• Being able to safely move material to specific destinations in the shop
• Comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE at all times
• Check work area for hazards
• Leave work area in a clean/safe state when shift is complete
