About The Position

The Material Handling Team Leader at Schreiber Foods, Inc. is responsible for leading and developing a team of partners while ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate flow of materials across the facility. This role owns inventory integrity and material handling operations across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, ensuring alignment between physical and system inventory. The Team Leader drives execution of daily operations, partners cross-functionally to meet production and customer requirements, and leads continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. This position plays a critical role in delivering operational results by building partner capability, reinforcing standards, and driving accountability across material handling systems, processes, and external warehouse operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of experience in material handling, warehousing, or logistics within a manufacturing or food processing environment
  • 1+ year of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a team-based setting
  • Proficiency in operating various material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks) with valid certification(s) preferred
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and warehouse operations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite); experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to material handling and warehousing
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks associated with material handling
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance (at least state minimum- more might be required), acceptable driving record per Schreiber Foods discretion, and vehicle that will ensure applicant can meet the travel necessities of the position are required (for positions that require any amount of travel)
  • Must have authorization to work in the country in which the role is based. Schreiber will determine, in its sole discretion, whether to sponsor an individual for work authorization.

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
  • Valid certification(s) for material handling equipment

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of material handlers, including scheduling, performance management, and fostering a safe, productive work environment
  • Provide floor leadership for material handling and palletizing operations, including inspections, investigations, and WQM support
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily material handling activities, including receiving, put-away, picking, staging, and loading to meet production schedules and shipping requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Supply Chain, Transportation, Distribution, and Warehousing teams to optimize material flow
  • Ensure batch accuracy and inventory integrity across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Lead inventory processes, including cycle counts, line/staging location accuracy, and plant-wide reconciliation
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, product issues, customer complaints, and shipping/receiving errors
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve operational safety
  • Oversee the safe and efficient use of material handling equipment and coordinate maintenance needs, including forklift upkeep and inspections
  • Support team training and system utilization, including warehouse systems and Hive superuser responsibilities
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all partners
  • Generate and analyze reports on inventory levels, material movement, and team performance
  • Manage external warehouse operations, including rework/trim loads and disposition of rejected materials
