About The Position

Simmonds Precision is seeking a Material Handling Supervisor to staff, organize, and supervise stockroom and material handling operations in support of aerospace manufacturing activities. This role is directly responsible for the receipt, storage, control, and issuance of production material to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing flow, inventory accuracy, and compliance with internal procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of prior relevant experience in material handling, inventory control, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems to manage inventory and material movements.
  • Must be a U.S. Person / Permanent Resident (“Green Card” holder).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, cycle counting methodologies, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with quality systems (AS9100 or equivalent) and audit requirements.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads in a fast-paced, schedule-driven production environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stockroom and material handling operations, including receiving, storage, kitting, staging, and issuance of material to production work centers.
  • Manage material handling staffing levels and coordinate daily work assignments to support production schedules and demand.
  • Ensure timely and accurate material availability to the production floor in accordance with work orders, bills of material (BOMs), and manufacturing priorities.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined cycle counting, discrepancy investigation, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure materials are properly identified, labeled, segregated, and stored to maintain configuration control and material traceability.
  • Execute and monitor material transactions within SAP, including goods receipts, material movements, issues, and inventory adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with quality system requirements, internal controls, and audit standards applicable to aerospace manufacturing.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient stockroom environment in compliance with EHS requirements and company policies.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities related to material flow, space utilization, inventory accuracy, and labor efficiency.
  • Support cross-functional coordination with Production, Planning, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.
  • Directly supervises material handlers and stockroom associates supporting production operations.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, quality standards, and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training associates in material handling and inventory control processes.
  • Assigns work, establishes priorities, and provides daily direction to ensure production support requirements are met.
  • Responsible for performance management, coaching, and corrective actions as required.
  • Promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and compliance with EHS and quality system requirements.
  • Fosters teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement within the material handling team.
