About The Position

The Load Controller must work accurately and quickly within the Warehouse Management System to maintain a balanced flow of load packets, manage dock doors, and communicate effectively with internal and external departments to meet delivery departure dates and times. This role involves completing reports and preparing paperwork neatly and accurately. The Load Controller will also assist the Shipping Supervisor to ensure smooth shipping operations without downtime.

Requirements

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with vendors, customers, production, and management personnel.
  • Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form.
  • Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
  • Must be able to move about the facility.
  • Must be able to sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear taste and smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years’ experience in warehousing or distribution is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare current and next day load packets and load status sheets neatly and without errors using Company-based and Microsoft Office software.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with all internal and external departments, including Sales, Scheduling, Transportation, Traffic, Billing, Material Handling, FSQA, Safety, and Maintenance.
  • Work up and prepare load add-ons, load ahead, and make corrections on current orders/loads for the current day if applicable.
  • Perform all WMS functions needed to prepare and complete loads for shipping.
  • Keep work area clean.
