About The Position

The MHE Technician is responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of powered industrial trucks (PITs), including electric forklifts and associated battery systems, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient warehouse operations. As the in-house maintenance program evolves, this role will expand to include additional material handling equipment and warehouse assets.

Requirements

  • Experience maintaining electric powered industrial trucks (forklifts) or comparable industrial equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret service manuals and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively manage workload.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to effectively utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Training will be provided as required.
  • Valid Class 5 Quebec Driver's Licence.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience maintaining Raymond powered industrial trucks, including reach trucks, order pickers, pallet trucks, walkie riders, end riders, and other electric forklifts.
  • Experience working in refrigerated or cold-storage warehouse environments.
  • Experience servicing lead-acid and lithium-ion battery systems, charging equipment, battery management systems, and associated components.
  • Familiarity with OEM diagnostic software and manufacturer service documentation.
  • Experience using a CMMS.
  • Certification or training in industrial mechanics, electromechanics, heavy equipment repair, or a related trade.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on electric powered industrial trucks (PITs).
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, steering, braking, and control system failures.
  • Perform repairs including motors, hydraulic components, mast assemblies, lift chains, wheels, tires, electrical systems, sensors, operator controls, forks, and safety devices.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair lead-acid and lithium-ion battery systems, chargers, and associated components.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore equipment to service safely and efficiently.
  • Receive and respond to emergency service calls during scheduled on-call rotations, using sound judgment to triage equipment failures and determine response priorities.
  • Accurately document inspections, repairs, labor, and parts usage within the CMMS. Training will be provided as required.
  • Communicate equipment status and work order progress through the CMMS.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and battery handling practices.
  • Assist with maintenance of additional warehouse equipment as the maintenance program expands.
