About The Position
The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining an organized stockroom, managing inventory, receiving materials, and supporting finishing operations. This role involves operating reclaimer equipment, managing waste disposal, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. The position requires a strong commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- Strong commitment to safety, including proper use of PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes)
- Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 60 lbs
- Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and maintain attention to detail and quality
- Numerical accuracy with basic counting and calculations
- Ability to read and follow written instructions with a customer-focused approach
- Dependable team player who communicates clearly and works effectively with others
- Problem-solving mindset with initiative to identify and implement process improvements
- Ability to meet deadlines and consistently achieve daily production targets
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized stockroom
- Complete and submit daily inventory to Purchasing
- Manage daily inventory for Custom Finishing
- Receive incoming materials and verify against documentation
- Restock and rotate inventory on a daily basis
- Manage waste disposal, track waste, and report as required
- Operate reclaimer equipment and oversee reclaiming room
- Support finishing operations as directed by supervisors or lead hands
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute practical solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned
