About The Position

Russel Metals is a North American metals distribution company operating metals service centers, energy field stores, and steel distributors. The Crane Operator / Material Handler – Plate is responsible for workplace safety procedures, quality inspections, and compliance with industry regulations and company ISO standards. The role helps maintain a safe work environment and ensures products meet quality requirements before reaching customers. Work is in person on the second shift, from 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

Perform daily pre-shift and daily crane inspections.
Locate material as allocated on work orders and verify that it meets order requirements.
Complete AS IS orders as required.
Operate a dual hoist crane.
Complete necessary documents and forms.
Load and unload trucks using an overhead crane.
Perform shipping and receiving inspections.
Stack plate safely in designated storage areas.
Work with the burner operator to remove scrap and finished parts from the table.
Assist with cleaning and packaging functions as needed.
Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Maintain safe, orderly, and clean work areas and wear proper PPE.
Initiate action to prevent nonconformities relating to products, processes, and the QMS/EMS.
Identify and record problems relating to products, processes, and the Quality/Environmental system.
Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels and verify their implementation.
Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition is corrected.
