About The Position
Under the direction of the Logistics Supervisor and/or Department Supervisor, the Material Handler maintains the distribution of materials between the production floor and inventory. This includes loading and unloading, delivering production materials and supplies to the production floor, staging finished product in designated inventory locations, and general housekeeping in accordance with Pregis policies and procedures.
Requirements
- 1+ years of sit-down forklift experience
- 1+ years of inventory control experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others
- Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with team and during shift transition
- Knowledgeable of safety requirements and guidelines in manufacturing/warehouse environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Inventory Control/Warehouse Management software (ex. SAP) is a plus!
Responsibilities
- Safely drive a forklift to stage material, load trucks, unload trucks, and transfer material within the plant and within departments as needed.
- Keep safety at the forefront of team’s thinking and approach to work.
- Communicate and ensure all safety procedures are strictly adhered to.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Assist to maintain a safe, well-organized, FIFO (first in, first out) controlled warehouse per Pregis Best Practice.
- Maintain inventory by identifying and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
- Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, and securing product in the correct location.
- Be a reliable member of the team, always identifying and professionally communicating ways to improve the work environment.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Perform other responsibilities as directed or required.
