Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum of One 1 year of material loading and unloading experience.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with inventory systems preferred.
  • Must have English reading and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, understand and communicate the company operating procedures and policies.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic math proficiency equal to or greater than required for the position and possess the capacity to understand complex and detailed instructions
  • Valid Maryland Driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience of handling fragile products a plus.
  • Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, manufacturing, or logistics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, and supplies throughout the facilities via a 28’ straight truck or smaller, powered industrial trucks, pallet jacks, carts, or other approved material-handling equipment and securing devices.
  • Effectively communicate pick-ups and deliveries via company provided cell phone.
  • Deliver materials to designated production areas in a timely manner to support manufacturing schedules and minimize downtime.
  • Remove completed products, scrap materials, and waste from production areas and transport them to appropriate storage or disposal locations.
  • Load, unload, stage, and move materials while ensuring proper handling to prevent damage to products, equipment, or facilities.
  • Verify material identification, quantities, lot numbers, and locations before transporting materials with placards to designated areas
  • Perform routine inspections of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment and report any safety or maintenance concerns and fill pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily for company vehicles.
  • Work in a safe manner by following all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and material-handling procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any unsafe work conditions to Safety Manager, supervisor, or management.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of warehouses, storage areas, production staging locations, aisles and yard. This includes but is not limited to taking inventory of pallets in yard and ensuring that pallets and crates are properly stored and stacked.
  • Support receiving, shipping, and production operations by relocating materials as needed and loading pallet trailer and load cardboard bales from outside warehouse to indoors to be loaded onto bale truck.
  • Communicate damages and untransferable material to supervisor promptly.
  • Ensure materials are stored in designated locations and rotated according to established inventory control procedures.
  • Adhere to quality standards and procedures to ensure product integrity throughout the material-handling process.
  • Work in a safe manner following all departmental and plant safety rules.
  • Reports any unsafe work conditions to the Safety Manager, supervisor, or management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
