About The Position

The Material Handler position at Performance Pet Products in Mitchell, SD is a full-time role responsible for managing inventory and shipments. This role involves operating forklifts, transferring materials, receiving goods, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Accurately and legibly record information on shipping documents.
  • Ability to accurately count and complete basic math operations with a calculator.
  • Ability to perform safety sensitive position.
  • Ability to work in a facility that processes multiple proteins including beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, lamb, rabbit, kangaroo, and egg.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes.
  • Operate a sit-down or stand-up forklift up to 75% of the day.
  • Consistently stand and/or walk.
  • Occasionally lift and/or push/pull 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally kneel or bend at the knees and/or waist.
  • Ability to tolerate varying environmental conditions including wet slippery conditions or extreme hot/cold.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing facility, desired.
  • Experience operating a forklift, preferred; ability to pass in-house certifications, upon hire, and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a sit-down and/or stand-up forklift to load/unload trucks and put away product in racking.
  • Transfer finished and unfinished materials (dry goods, meat, pallets, dunnage, cans/lids) between production floor and storage.
  • Review bills-of-lading and purchase orders for shipment accuracy; receive in approved materials.
  • Complete daily inspections and paperwork on each piece of equipment used.
  • Assist in gathering materials, prepping orders for shipment, rotating raw materials, and inventory/cycle counts.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal personnel and external visitors.
  • Safely operate yard trucks to move and organize trailers, as needed.
  • Collect/drill samples of frozen meat and deliver them to the lab for testing, when needed.
  • Complete reports and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Perform general housekeeping and ensure all areas of the production floor, loading dock, and warehouse are clean and organized.
  • Work safely and comply with company and regulatory safety/environmental policies, practices and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance.
