As our Material Handler, you will be responsible for working within our Specialty Chemicals division to ensure that all blended chemicals and products are stored and shipped correctly. The successful candidate will operate a forklift to load and unload products, manage storage throughout the warehouse and yard, and ensure materials are correctly marked in accordance with TDG requirements. This role is based out of Blackfalds, Alberta. The team is highly collaborative and safety-focused, working together to ensure smooth warehouse operations and compliance with regulations. Everyone plays a hands-on role in maintaining efficiency, cleanliness, and organization, while supporting one another to meet daily objectives. The role is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring adaptability to work in various weather conditions and handle a diverse range of tasks, from operating forklifts to preparing shipments. Safety and precision are top priorities, with a structured approach to maintaining compliance and ensuring a well-organized workspace.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • TDG, WHMIS 2015, First Aid Certifications
  • Requires 1-2 years of directly related forklift experience.
  • Be physically fit and have a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Forklift Certification with experience operating forklifts with liquid-based materials is considered an asset.
  • Maintenance and computer skills are considered an asset.
  • Oil and Gas chemical knowledge is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Unload incoming deliveries and load products for shipment per company policy and TDG Requirements
  • Attend morning “toolbox” meeting to be aware of daily activities
  • Keep warehouse/product storage areas neat, clean, organized and safe.
  • Assist in stencilling, labelling, palletizing, and shrink-wrapping/banding of materials for shipment.
  • Accurately and efficiently perform all tasks as assigned.
  • Use small hand tools and operate handling equipment.
  • On Call (Weekend and Evening) responsibilities as required
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by the Lead Shipper/Receiver, Plant Manager or Plant Foreman
  • Understand and comply with all safety and environmental requirements and company policies.
  • Perform all activities in accordance with established safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Play an active role in improving the working environment to ensure the safety and health of all employees.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
