The COS Material Handler I position’s primary purpose is receiving, filling, and shipping products accurately and efficiently. Ensures all products are readily available to be filled and ensures necessary paperwork is completed. May be assigned all or some of the various warehouse job functions including but not limited to receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, stock replenishment, customer will call, and inventory cycle counts. Operates power equipment (i.e. electric pallet, walkie rider, sit-down forklift) in a safe and efficient manner to locate, put away, stack, and move checked-in products to correct storage locations on a daily basis. This includes stocking, filling bin boxes, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, and rotating product where needed; monitoring stock on shelves or bins; replenishing stock from reserves; maintaining control of products in reserve stock area or will call area. Receives product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand. Ensures shipments received are in good condition and accurate by: inspecting freight for damage and signing freight bills; verifying quantity ordered versus quantity received; checking all shipments against packing lists; and completing necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies. Ensures all required products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving labeling discrepancies, and completing necessary paperwork. Fills orders by picking products, packing items into cartons, stacking them in a manner that minimizes damage, entering items into scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork. Documents the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork. Prepares orders by: preparing trucks for shipments; palletizing and wrapping orders; loading pallets and pieces into trucks; placing packing list in last skid; and completing necessary paperwork. Maintains current accuracy and efficiency standards and follows all standard operating procedures. May participate in inventory cycle counts and other related projects in current location and/or the market as assigned. Maintains a safe work environment by working in a safe manner, following safety rules, maintaining equipment, and maintaining a clean work area. Promptly reports any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors. Always wears protective equipment according to company policies and procedures. Accesses Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed and when appropriate. Maintains required hazardous materials, forklift, and other internal and external certifications as needed. Maintains professional communications when interacting with customers and coworkers. Treats all customers and coworkers with a helpful and courteous attitude. Performs all other duties as assigned.
