About The Position
The Material Handler position is responsible for various tasks within the shipping department, including preparing goods for shipment, moving and storing materials, and ensuring proper labeling and packaging. This role requires the ability to operate material handling equipment and maintain a safe work environment. It is designated as a safety-sensitive position.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to operate forklifts and other materials handling equipment
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Light woodworking skills
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in materials handling or a related field preferred
Responsibilities
- Stack and pile finished goods into boxes and crates per specific customer instructions
- Prepare goods for shipment
- Move and store materials using various equipment and tools, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- Ensure materials are properly labeled and packaged - recording measurement, weight & product count - and place in designated areas
- Mark & Label containers
- Take pictures of packaged goods for customer review
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and containers
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Cross train and support other departments as needed
- Other duties as needed or required.
